Dear Ridgedale School Community Members, April 24, 2020
Mrs. Zackery and I hope that this letter finds you and your family in good health and spirits. Although this has been a challenging time for you and your children, everyone at Ridgedale has kept you in our thoughts. Even though our physical building is closed, our school community is not. We are here for you, so please reach out and let us know how we can help. We will continue to keep you in our hearts, as well as provide the support you need to tackle academics and address social, emotional, and physical well-being.
By now you know that Governor Justice made the hard decision not to reopen our buildings for the remainder of the school year. While most of us were holding out hope that schools would be back in business after April 30, I believe we can all agree that it was the sensible decision to make. Even though we are going to miss some of the most exciting days of the school year, that is a small price to pay to protect the health and safety of all. We are in the process of creating a plan for you to collect your child’s personal belongings. Once we have a solid plan, we will share it on the webpage and send a School Messenger call with the information.
Please know that the separation we are experiencing is only temporary, so let’s look toward the future and the great things that will be coming! We are looking for ways to celebrate with you and your children at some time during the summer. We want our students and staff to not only have the opportunity to close the 2019-2020 school year, but also to “step-up” into the new year. We want to take class pictures and sign yearbooks, say goodbye to our current teachers and hello to our new ones. We are planning ahead to make sure that we provide instruction for our students that is appropriate and effective.
When we return in August, it will be to a beautifully renovated building! The new addition will be ready for students, the kindergarten wing renovations will be completed, an updated, security-enhanced office will be open, and a fabulous parking area complete with bus and car-rider lanes will be in place. We can’t wait to open the doors in August so that we can continue to build our school community within the newly renovated walls of our physical building.
Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do to support learning in your home. We truly are all in this together. You have been amazing.
