The Health Sciences & Technology Academy, known as HSTA, is a one-of-a-kind mentoring program in the state of West Virginia that helps participating high school students enter and succeed in STEM-based undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Students may only apply for the high school program during 8th grade. Requirements include maintaining a 2.5 GPA, attending 70 % of student meetings, completing a yearly science project, attending two HSTA Summer Institutes, and completing 75 hours of community service. Tuition waivers will be provided to students who successfully complete the program. The link for the online application can be found on South's website. Applications must be submitted by March 1st.
