Boys Basketball Tryouts Begin Monday, Nov 11, 2024

MMS Boys Basketball will be holding Varsity, JV1, and JV2 tryouts beginning on Monday November 11, 2024. All eighth, seventh and sixth graders are invited to participate.

All players must have a sports physical dated after May 1, 2024. It will be kept on file with the school and can be used for the entirety of the 2023-24 school year for any sport a student participates in. Boys without one will not be able to participate.

Varsity tryouts will be for all eighth grade boys and younger players by invitation only. JV1 and JV2 tryouts are for all seventh and sixth graders.

Tentatively, there will be one round of cuts for varsity on Thursday. JV1 and JV2 will have two cuts: Tuesday and Thursday. Only sixth graders are eligible for the JV2 team. Eighth graders are only eligibke for the varsity team.

Players should bring a water bottle but do not need to bring their own basketball. Players trying out for JV1 and JV2 teams should also bring an all white t-shirt that can be written on. We use them to identify each player during tryouts.

2024-25 Season Schedule
Varsity and JV1 will play a full schedule mostly consisting of mid-week games. The JV2 team will play a shorter schedule of games to be held usually on Saturday mornings.

Values and Expectations
MMS Boys Basketball values hard work, good attitudes, being a good teammate, as well as basketball skill. Player selection will be made based on those criteria. We expect parents and family to be good teammates and exhibit a positive attitude as well.

Players who do not make the team this year will be encouraged to continue to play and develop in one of the several high-quality leagues in and around Morgantown, and to try out again in the future.

The coaching staff is excited for the upcoming season. Our mission is to help your athlete reach their full potential as a player and as a person. We appreciate your support, trust, and partnership in the endeavor.
